On December 15, on the occasion of the third National Space Day established in 2021 by the President of the Council of Ministers to celebrate the launch of the first Italian satellite San Marco 1, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) will take the field with two important initiatives.

Exhibition at MiMIT. The first of these is the opening of the exhibition “Made in Italy of Space. Observation, Exploration, Future and Technology: the Italian path from Earth to Cosmos”, which took place in the Atrium of Palazzo Piacentini, headquarters of MiMIT (Ministry of Trade and Production). in Italy) and organized in collaboration with the same Ministry in the presence of ASI President Teodoro Valente, Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, Minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini and Head of MiMIT Cabinet Federico Eichberg.

Immersed in space. The exhibition depicts the technological and scientific skills of the Italian space industry through iconic missions, space programs and space science. Designed with a highly informative and immersive approach, it uses spatial models and artefacts, explanatory and interactive panels, videos and video pills that illustrate the many faces of Italian production activities in the sector.

The exhibition divided into the sections Earth, Navigation, From Earth to Mars and Deep Space will be on view until January 11, 2024 (11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). A special opening to the public is scheduled for Saturday, December 16.

Meeting at Tor Vergata. In the afternoon, from 14:30 to 17:00, ASI organizes at its headquarters in Rome-Tor Vergata the event “In five minutes: key words for the success of Made in Italy in Space”, conceived according to a format that includes two moments of in-depth analysis. In the first part dedicated to the institutions, the owner of MiMIT Adolfo Urso and the Vice-President of the Council and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani participate, who were welcomed by the President of ASI Teodoro Valente.

The space industry. While the second part will present short speeches by the protagonists of the Italian industry – large groups, small and medium enterprises and startups – operating in different areas of the space. Each intervention of the industrial component resembles a keyword capable of summarizing or indicating the specificity of the business idea or the values ‚Äč‚Äčthat inspire the company. So this is not an anthology of business stories, but rather a “dictionary” of the words Made in Italy of Space.

The event is held in a hybrid mode with an audience in the room (by invitation) and broadcast to anyone on ASI TV.

Elsewhere too. But other National Space Day 2023 events will be held (or have already begun) at a variety of venues, including universities, research and dissemination institutes, museums, planetariums and space companies.

Some of the initiatives are listed on the website dedicated to this Day.

In fact, the aim is to raise awareness and inform Italian citizens of the contribution that science and technology applied in space bring to the improvement of the human condition and to make them understand the benefits that space activities bring to everyday life in terms of growth. , well-being, image and role of the country at the global level.
