Orange warning of bad weather in Emilia Romagna, yellow in 13 regions


AGI – Again weather warning Sunday for much of the country due to a disturbance that causes a phase of severe bad weather with widespread precipitation in parts of the Mid-North and lower Tyrrhenian Sea, snowfall at medium-low altitudes in the Mid-North and still winds from the western quadrants rather supported.

Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the participating regions, issued a warning of adverse weather conditions which extends the previous one. The warning predicts scattered to widespread rainfall, including downpours, across the Emilia-Romagna region, Tuscany and northern Marche from the early hours of Sunday 7 January. In Campania, Basilicata and Calabria, especially near the Tyrrhenian regions, scattered to widespread precipitation including showers or thunderstorms is expected.

The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity and strong gusty winds. In addition, the warning predicts snowfall above 1000-1200 meters in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, with amounts to moderate on the ground. The wind will be gale force, with strong gusts of thunderstorms, from the western quadrants to Campania and Basilicata. Storm surges are expected along exposed coasts.

Based on the expected events, an orange alert has been issued for tomorrow, Sunday, January 7, in the Emilia-Romagna region. In addition, a yellow alert has been evaluated for Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Campania, Abruzzo, Lazio, Umbria, Tuscany, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, part of Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Puglia and Veneto.
