Built on the Volkswagen Group’s PPE platform, the new Macan is powered by electric motors with permanent magnets that are capable of developing 612 HP (approx. 450 kW) and more than 1,000 Nm of torque. The model will be available in both rear- and all-wheel drive versions, with a very balanced weight distribution: 48% at the front and 52% at the rear. The powertrain will be powered by a lithium-ion battery with an output of around 100kW, although the exact figure will be revealed at the time of the car’s debut. Autonomy will exceed the WLTP approval cycle 500 km. Charging is definitely “fast”: thanks to the maximum power of 270 kW that can be achieved, approximately 100 km of autonomy is achieved in just 4 minutes.

Although we are talking about an electric SUV, the Macan promises excellent behavior between the curbs. That’s thanks to a scheme that features a double wishbone up front with tuned geometries and spring and damper settings for unprecedented steering precision and great straight-line stability. At the back, we find a multi-element combined with the body using a special auxiliary frame. On request, it is possible to have electronically controlled shock absorbers through the system PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), while the top variants enjoy Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and rear differential with electronically controlled locking.
