AGI – Yellow for an injury to former Napoli and PSG striker ‘Poch’ Lavezzi, involved in a brawl in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The 38-year-old Argentine was attending a family celebration at his villa in the seaside resort and it is not clear what happened. His partner and some relatives were at home.

What is certain is that Lavezzi was admitted at dawn to the Sanatorium Cantegrill, the same clinic that welcomed Diego Armando Maradona in serious condition in 2000 and released him after about twenty days. According to local media he suffered a stab wound and a broken collarbone which led to the stabbing hypothesis. However, police who arrived at the scene reported only a shoulder blade injury and ruled out stabbing injuries for the time being.

The Lavezzi family they downplayed the episode by calling it a domestic accident: “Pocho” would actually fall while changing a light bulb and hit a piece of furniture, sustaining a severe contusion to his shoulder blade and a superficial wound to his abdomen, which would therefore not be the result of a stab wound. Lavezzi’s last public appearance was in early December at Inter Miami’s stadium during a match between Conmebol’s old glory with Kun Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain, ahead of the Copa America draw.
